What am I actually buying when I purchase a beat?
You’re getting a license to use the beat instrumental in your own song. It’s like getting permission. You don’t own the beat itself – I (Luke Mounthill) keep the original copyright – but you get the rights to use it based on the license you choose.
What's the difference between your Non-Exclusive Leases and Exclusive Rights?
A Non-Exclusive Lease (MP3, WAV, Trackouts, Unlimited) means other artists can also license the same beat. These usually have limits on things like streams or sales, except for the Unlimited Lease. Exclusive Rights ($299.99) mean you’re the last person to get that beat. I remove it from the store, and you get full, unlimited usage rights for your music. It costs more because it’s exclusively yours going forward.
Do I need an account to buy beats?
Nope, you don’t need to sign up first. When you make your first purchase, an account might be automatically created so you can access your downloads easily later.
How should I credit Luke Mounthill when I use a beat?
Giving credit is required for all licenses. Please put “(Prod. by Luke Mounthill)” or “(Beat by Luke Mounthill)” in your track title or description (like on YouTube etc.).

How do I buy a beat?
- Browse the beat store.
- Click the price button (like ‘🛒$29.99’) under the beat you want and pick your Lease.
- Hit the cart icon (top right) when you’re ready.
- Review your order and pay securely with PayPal or Card.
- Get your files instantly after payment!
What payment methods do you accept?
You can pay safely using PayPal or any major Credit/Debit Card (processed via Stripe).
Is the payment secure?
Yes, 100%. Payments go through trusted platforms like PayPal and Stripe. Your card details are kept safe and are never seen by me.
What currency are the prices in?
All prices are in USD ($). If you’re paying with a different currency, PayPal or your card company will convert it automatically.
Do you have bulk deals like "Buy 2 Get 1 Free"? How does it work?
Yes! Check the top bar of the site for current deals. For the “Buy 2 Get 1 Free” offer, just add 3 beats with the exact same license type (e.g., 3 WAV Leases) to your cart. The discount for the third beat will apply automatically at checkout.
Where do I enter a discount code?
On the checkout page, look for a spot that says “Have a coupon? Click here to enter your code” (or similar). Type your code there and apply it before you pay.
Understanding Your Licenses
What exactly do I get with the MP3 Lease ($29.99)?
You get the untagged MP3 file. It’s good for starting out. You can sell up to 1,000 copies and get up to 100,000 monetized audio streams and 100,000 monetized video plays. You can make 1 music video. Paid performances and radio play are not included.
What exactly do I get with the WAV Lease ($49.99)?
You get the untagged MP3 and the high-quality WAV file (better for recording vocals). Limits increase to 2,000 sales, 200,000 audio streams, and 200,000 video plays. You can make 2 music videos and get play on 2 radio stations. Paid performances are allowed.
What exactly do I get with the Trackouts Lease ($69.99)?
This includes MP3, WAV, and the crucial Trackout Stems (individual instrument files) for professional mixing. Limits go up to 5,000 sales, 500,000 audio streams, and 500,000 video plays. You can make 3 music videos and get play on 3 radio stations. Paid performances are allowed.
What exactly do I get with the Unlimited Lease ($99.99)?
The best value non-exclusive option! You get MP3, WAV, and Trackouts. All usage is unlimited: unlimited sales, streams, video plays, radio stations, and music videos. Paid performances are allowed. This license also allows you to register your song with PROs (like ASCAP/BMI).
What exactly do I get with Exclusive Rights ($299.99)?
You get full control and unlimited usage (MP3, WAV, Trackouts included). The beat is removed from my store and won’t be licensed to anyone else. You own the exclusive rights to use the beat in your song(s). (Note: I retain the underlying composition copyright as the producer and co-writer for publishing purposes).
What does "Royalty-Free" mean for your beats?
It means you keep 100% of the money you earn directly from selling your song or from streams on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music, etc., via your distributor. It does not typically cover the separate “publishing” royalties collected by PROs (ASCAP, BMI, etc.) for things like radio play – those are usually split 50/50 between the songwriter (you) and the composer (me, Luke Mounthill).
Do non-exclusive licenses expire?
No, the licenses themselves don’t have a time limit. They last until you hit the usage limits (streams, sales) specified in your agreement. Unlimited and Exclusive licenses have no usage limits.
Can I upgrade my license later?
Yes! If you start with an MP3 or WAV lease and need higher limits or trackouts later, you can upgrade as long as the Exclusive Rights haven’t been sold. You just pay the difference. Contact me to arrange it.
Usage Rights & Monetization
Can I use the beat for my album/mixtape/single?
Absolutely. That’s what they are for! Just stick to the usage terms of the lease you purchase.
How many streams/sales am I allowed?
Check your specific license agreement. MP3 allows 1k sales/100k streams, WAV allows 2k/200k, Trackouts allows 5k/500k, and Unlimited/Exclusive are unlimited.
Can I make a music video for YouTube?
Yes. MP3 allows 1 video, WAV allows 2, Trackouts allows 3, and Unlimited/Exclusive allow unlimited music videos.
Can I monetize my song on YouTube? What about Content ID claims?
YouTube monetization is allowed with all licenses. My beats might be in Content ID. If you get a claim and have the proper license, contact me with your license and video link to get it cleared quickly. Do not register the track in Content ID yourself.
Can I earn money from Spotify, Apple Music, etc.?
Yes, 100% of the money from your distributor for streams and sales on these platforms is yours to keep.
Can I perform the song live / do paid shows?
Paid performances are allowed with WAV, Trackouts, Unlimited, and Exclusive licenses.
Can my song be on Radio/TV?
Radio play is allowed based on your license: WAV (2 stations), Trackouts (3 stations), Unlimited/Exclusive (unlimited stations). TV usage requires an Unlimited or Exclusive license.
Can I register my song with ASCAP/BMI/etc.?
Only if you have an Unlimited or Exclusive license. If you register, you must credit me (Luke Mounthill) as composer/producer.
Files, Delivery & Quality
How and when do I receive my beat files?
Instantly! You get download links right after payment, plus an email with the links and your license agreement.
What file formats are included?
MP3 Lease gets an MP3. WAV Lease gets MP3 + WAV. Trackouts, Unlimited, and Exclusive get MP3 + WAV + Trackout Stems (individual instrument WAV files). All are high, studio-quality.
What are Trackouts / Stems and why would I need them?
They’re the separate audio files for each instrument (kick, snare, bass, melody, etc.). They give you maximum control for professional mixing, mastering, and arranging your song. Included with Trackouts, Unlimited, and Exclusive licenses.
Are the beats tagged with your voice?
No. Only the previews in the beat store player are tagged. Your purchased download files are completely clean and untagged.
Are the beats already mastered?
They are professionally pre-mixed for great sound and balance. They are delivered unmastered (or with light limiting) to leave headroom for mastering after your vocals are added, which gives the best final result.
Policies & Troubleshooting
I didn't receive my download email. What should I do?
Check your spam/junk folder first. If it’s not there after about an hour, email me at [email protected] with your order details, and I’ll sort it out.
Can I get a refund or exchange a beat?
Because these are digital downloads, all sales are final. Once downloaded, I can’t offer refunds or exchanges. Please use the previews to make sure you like the beat before you purchase.
Can I edit the beat (structure, tempo, sounds)?
Yes, you can edit the structure and length. Tempo changes are possible but can affect quality. Having Trackouts (from Trackouts, Unlimited, or Exclusive licenses) gives you the most editing flexibility.
What happens if someone buys the Exclusive Rights after I leased a beat?
Your existing non-exclusive lease remains valid for its full terms and limits. The exclusive sale just prevents new licenses from being sold for that beat.
Can I resell the beat I purchased?
No. You are buying a lease (usage rights), not ownership. Reselling the beat or transferring the license is not allowed.
